The chair Pinocchio has been awarded the First Prize for the open section
Reason for the judges choice: „The Panel of Judges unanimously decided to award the First Prize to the „Pinocchio Chair“ by the german designer Julian Appelius for the following reasons: the designer goes beyond the strictly functional limits of a chair by imagining a new category and a „new user“. In fact „Pinocchio“ is a hybrid between a real chair and a teaching game and therefore aimed at children in different stages of development. As well as ensuring correct ergonomic attributes, „Pinocchio“ can be assembled and re-assembled in different and personalized ways, not only as a game but also as a learning device. Moreover the intelligent adaptability in size for different age groups was judged to be highly noteworthy.“
